August Equity has backed the management team of Zenergi to continue its strong growth trajectory. Zenergi provides energy procurement, invoice validation and contract management services to clients predominantly in the education sector.
The business serves local authorities, multi-academy trusts, secondary schools, junior schools and independent schools. It counts more than 1,800 schools as customers and delivers 1.5 terawatts of energy.
Headquartered in Southampton, Zenergi operates offices in Essex and Manchester and employs 38 people. Zenergi places customer service at its heart, generating a market leading reputation that supports its 98% customer retention rate.
Our investment backs the CEO, Graham Cooke, to continue Zenergi’s strong organic growth with supplemental acquisitions to create a broader offering of energy services to.
The investment was led by Mike Biddulph and Mehul Patel with support from James Bakewell, Richard Muckle and Sam Hardy. Mike Biddulph and Richard Muckle will join the board. Peter Opperman, a highly experienced chairman, will also join the board.
